Friday June 12th

On Friday Katrina and I woke up early and Professor Vamvakas drove us to see this man made dam. It looked so beautiful but I wasn't sure how to feel about the man-made part of the beauty. While at the dam we were talking about the usage of the water. Now that Crete is switching over to producing more avocados, much more water will be needed to maintain them than the oranges currently need. One of my favorite parts of the trip so far has been listening to Professor Vamvakas unload his knowledge on us - similar to the way Mary sometimes does. Seeing small sites around Chania and Crete and learning about their history's is a special opportunity I think we are all very grateful for.
